What stood out to you from Sunday’s message?

Summary                                                                                                                                     Read Acts 15:36-16:10

Paul had a clear and definite life call (Acts 9:15-16) and commission (Acts 13:1-3), but where and how specifically should he fulfill it? Even when trying to fulfill his calling Paul ran into roadblocks and closed doors. How should we respond when doors close before us? This passage shows us how God can guide us even through frustrating circumstances to fulfill his purposes.

Discussion Questions

1. What can we learn from the disagreement between Paul and Barnabas? What good came out of it?

2. Why did Paul have Timothy circumcised if it was not required? On what issues must we stand firm in our convictions, and on what kinds of issues can we have flexibility? How do you discern between these?

3. How does the team respond to the closed doors in Asia and Bithynia?

4. Can you share a time when God closes and opened doors like this? What did you learn?

5. Read 1 Cor 16:8. When do you know that a door is closed, and when do you know that the door is open but the work is hard?
