What stood out to you from Sunday’s message?

Summary

Read Revelation 12

A woman writhing in labour pains is faced with a vicious seven-headed dragon seeking to devour her baby. All hope seems to be lost. But in the very moment his victory seems secure, he is thrown down and defeated. The church has a role in this great fight that goes back to Genesis 2-3. We too overcome the dragon by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.

Discussion Questions

1. In what way does Revelation 12 tell the whole story of the Bible?

2. What do we learn about Satan and his tactics from the descriptions of him in this passage? How does knowing his tactics help us to follow Jesus more faithfully?

3. How does Jesus’ death (v.11 “the blood of the Lamb”) give victory to his people over the dragon? How is Satan defeated at the cross?

4. What does this passage tell us about overcoming guilt, shame, and failure and the accusations of the devil? What truths do we need to cling to? How, practically do you do this?

5. In v.15, the dragon tries to destroy God’s people through his deceptive words (symbolized by a threatening river). How could a church be destroyed by deception? What is our best defence?
