Summary

Read 1 Timothy 2:8-15

Paul continues to give instructions for the behaviour of the church as it gathers for worship. The cultural values of the West have trained us to recoil at any gender distinction. While controversial, this passage cannot simply be dismissed but must be studied and understood in context. God has designed men and women with equal value and worth, but with unique roles to play in the home and the church. By rejecting these roles, the church in Ephesus is disobeying God’s design and harming the health of the church.
