What stood out to you from Sunday’s message?

Summary

Read Ezekiel 2:1-3:15

The bizarre and overwhelming vision that Ezekiel has in chapter 1 is all a precursor to God calling Ezekiel to be a prophet. This task will be extremely difficult, with almost no chance of “success.” We want our life to be easy and successful, but God promises neither, instead calling and equipping us to do hard things in his service.

Discussion Questions

  1. What is the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do? How did God equip you for it?

  2. How is God calling you to serve him in your church, your family and your vocation/school?

  3. What is the difference between success and faithfulness in those ministry callings?

  4. God equips Ezekiel with the Spirit and his Word, the same things he equips us with. What does it look like to rely on Spirit and Word in your callings? How can you do that more?

  5. God tells Ezekiel to not be afraid of the exiles or his task. How does the vision in chapter 1 help Ezekiel to not fear?
