What stood out to you from Sunday’s message?

Summary

Read Exodus 29:43-46 & I Peter 2:4-10

Having been given the Book of the Covenant, God now gives Moses the detailed instructions of how to build the Tabernacle. It is through this Tabernacle that the Holy God is able to dwell among his people. Ever since Eden, God has been progressively restoring his presence among his people: the Tabernacle and Temple look forward to Christ and then Christ’s body, the church. And ultimately we look forward to the New Jerusalem when God will dwell with his people fully.

Discussion Questions

  1. Are there right and wrong ways to worship God? Does God direct how we are to worship him?
  2. Why are there veils and curtains to block people from the Most Holy Place? What is the significance of the curtain being torn in half when Jesus died? What does that mean for us today?
  3. What do Eden, the Tabernacle, Christ, and the New Jerusalem have in common?
  4. Instead of a tabernacle or temple, how is God especially present in the church? How are we the new temple? What does this mean?
  5. Is God present with us corporately in a different way than he is present with us as individuals?
  6. Do you think that we value the church enough if it is God’s temple on earth now?
