Opening

What stood out to you from Sunday’s message?

Summary

Read 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

New is better. We want new things. We want to be made new. In this broken and sinful world, the only hope for the new life that we long for is through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus, God gives new life (regeneration), a new relationship (reconciliation) and a new identity (righteousness). This is the glorious good news of Easter!

Discussion Questions

  1. What are some ways that people viewed Jesus “according to the flesh”? How would you respond?
  2. What does it mean that we are a new creation? Where does this new life comes from?
  3. Why do we need reconciliation with God and who does the reconciling?
  4. In what way is the message of reconciliation entrusted to us? How can we be faithful or unfaithful with it?
  5. What is the “great exchange” (v.21)? How does God view us and treat us because of this exchange? Do you really believe this?
