What stood out to you from Sunday’s message?

Summary

Read Ephesians 2:1-10

We know that salvation is by grace, but how much grace? Many of us seem to think that we are mostly good people, who fall a bit short and need a boost of grace to make it to heaven. God makes up the difference. But this is so radically different than the Bible’s teaching. Your sinful condition is far worse than you realize and God’s grace is far more lavish, powerful, and extensive than you can imagine. God’s grace is big and we need to re-align our whole life around it.

Discussion Questions

  1. Why is it that we often think that we do not really need God’s grace? Where does this self-sufficiency come from?
  2. How does God’s disposition towards you fluctuate with your obedience or disobedience? How does he see you at your worst?
  3. In what ways are we tempted to boast or admire our spiritual maturity rather than to see everything as grace? How do we re-align ourselves to the reality of grace?
  4. In what ways must grace change us? How is grace evidenced in daily life?
  5. What is one thing that would change in your life if you truly, deeply, believed that everything you have and are is a grace from God?
