What stood out to you from Sunday’s message?

Summary

Read Philippians 1:27-2:11

The gospel is not just a message we agree with and then move on with our life as is. The gospel must transform the way we view the world and live in it. Paul urges the Philippian Christians to live worthy of the gospel of Christ. They are to live out of the new reality of the gospel, with Jesus’ life, death and resurrection being the centre point for all of life.

Discussion Questions

  1. What are some examples of someone living in a way that makes the gospel either more attractive or less attractive? How does our behaviour shape the way the gospel is perceived?
  2. How does the safety and luxury of suburban life shape us and make us resistant to suffering with Christ?
  3. Do you feel pressure to compete with others? In what ways? How does the way of Christ challenge this thinking?
  4. For Jesus, the way to the crown was through the cross (2:6-11). How does that become a paradigm for every Christian life? Where are we tempted (like Jesus was) to shortcut the cross?
