To our TAC Family,

I’m so thankful to you as a church for giving me this opportunity to step away from full-time ministry and to focus on study and family. I wanted to update you on what we’ve been up to these last 7 weeks.

On day 2 of my sabbatical we awoke to an email informing us that Matthew’s long-awaited citizenship paperwork was being processed. A week and a half later we were on a plane to Guinea! Matthew has now been home for a full month. There have definitely been challenges, but we are thankful for God’s empowering grace as we bond as a family and settle into life as a family of 6. We are so appreciative of the meals and prayers that were given upon our arrival and we look forward to introducing him to you all in due time.

Last week I was privileged to spend a week on campus at Western Seminary in Portland. I took amazing classes on the Theology of the Pentateuch (with Dr. Tim Mackie of the Bible Project) and Theology of the Church. I’m tempted to write about all the things I’ve been thinking and learning, but I probably should save something for the fall ;)

While I haven’t been around the church much, you have often been on my mind. I do miss my role and look forward to getting back at it, although I recognize that the break has been good for me. I’m really thankful for all those who are stepping into the pulpit while I’m away. Be gracious to them, it takes courage.

Have a great summer!
Steve
